The training course aims to provide insights in to the approach to improving quality, productivity and cost reduction applied by today’s world-class organisations and provides those attending with a practical and usable toolkit with which to work in their own organisation.

By the end of this COPEX training course, participants will be able to:

Training Methodology

The training course is structured as a highly participative workshop with formal presentations, case studies and interactive worked examples. Relevant examples and case studies will be provided to illustrate the application of each of the topics covered and opportunities are provided to learn and practice the use of powerful modern finance skills and tools, reinforced with practical examples and exercises.

Day 2: Principles of Effective Cost Management and Reduction

  • Defining and classifying business expenditure
  • Understanding business cost behaviour
  • Using cost-volume-profit analysis models
  • Understanding gross margin and break-even
  • An activity-based approach to understanding resource costs
  • Effective profit improvement tactics
  • Identifying areas of poor productivity and quality
  • How quality and productivity problems affect profit and cash flow

Day 3: A Quality Based Approach to Waste and Cost Reduction

  • Lean – a focus on customer value and waste reduction
  • Defining and identifying waste with value stream maps
  • Understanding waste – Muda and the Eight Types of Waste
  • Practical lessons from the Toyota Production System
  • Using Six Sigma to eliminate quality variation
  • Principles of Business Process Reengineering (BPR)
  • Principles of Total Quality Management (TQM)

Day 4: Practical Business Improvement Methods

  • Waste reduction using the Toyota 5S approach
  • Understanding the real DNA of Toyota’s success
  • Kaizen – a philosophy of continuous improvement and problem solving
  • Choosing the right Key Performance Measures (KPM’s)
  • Practical problem-solving tools – Pareto analysis, Brainstorming and mind-mapping, Fishbone diagrams, and Using 5 Why’s for root cause analysis

Day 5: Implementing Quality and Cost Reduction Initiatives

  • A strategic approach to cost reduction
  • Setting up a cost reduction programme
  • Goals and questions around productivity
  • Streamlining the organisation
  • The psychology of resistance in humans
  • 8 steps to overcoming the barriers to change
  • Personal action plan

Our cancellation policy varies depending on the circumstances presented. Generally, cancellations must be initiated in formal writing at least 14 days prior to the commencement date of the training course. Further, the option to shift an existing registration to another training course on a later date is possible. Otherwise, a full refund will be initiated.

Our training courses courses are being held at five-star hotels in prime and iconic destinations across the globe. Cities such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dubai, Geneva, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, London, Houston, New York, Paris, Vienna, Zurich, etc.

Our training courses will run for 5 hours per day. The standard daily timing is from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm including the coffee/tea breaks and lunch.

The training course fee can be settled by either:

Published training course fees are inclusive of the training venue, training manual, writing materials, lunch and coffee breaks with refreshments over the entire duration of the training course.

Upon successful registration, processing window will take not more than 24 hours from the time of registration. An email including the registration confirmation, invoice and joining instructions will be sent to the provided email address.
