Course Introduction

This Risk Reliability Management training course provides participants with the core skills needed to commission, assess, review, and implement a risk-based reliability strategy. The main goal is to help organizations strengthen asset reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and maintain high safety and environmental standards across the asset lifecycle.

In today’s industrial environment, risk management has become an essential responsibility for utility and asset professionals. With growing pressure from stakeholders to improve returns, from customers to enhance service quality, and from society to meet safety and environmental expectations, traditional maintenance methods are no longer sufficient. This course guides organizations in transitioning to a strategic risk-based maintenance approach that supports long-term performance and reliability.

This Risk Reliability Management training course will cover:

  • How maintenance objectives have shifted over the last two decades from prevention-based to risk-based strategies
  • Why larger, more complex systems increase potential losses and require new maintenance tactics
  • How lean operations with reduced inventories demand higher reliability standards
  • Why society now expects stronger safety and environmental responsibility from organizations
  • How participants can overcome these challenges by applying the tools and techniques taught in this course

Objectives

By the end of this Risk Reliability Management training course, participants will be able to:

  • Select systems that require reliability and risk improvement
  • Identify system functions and set appropriate performance standards
  • Predict failed states, failure modes, and damage mechanisms
  • Apply maintenance tactics to reduce risk and improve reliability
  • Implement a team-based approach for sustainable risk and reliability improvement

Participants will leave with the ability to assess operational risks, improve system performance, and apply structured reliability management methods. This training ensures that learners can translate theory into practical actions, leading to measurable improvements in asset reliability and safety. By mastering risk-based techniques, participants will be equipped to support strategic maintenance planning and achieve more reliable and cost-effective asset operations.

Training Methodology

This Risk Reliability Management training course uses proven adult learning methods to maximize understanding and knowledge retention. The course is delivered through a mix of direct instruction, interactive discussions, and practical exercises, ensuring learners remain engaged and fully comprehend the material.

A key feature of the course is hands-on practice using real-life case studies. Participants will work individually and in groups to apply the techniques and processes being taught, ensuring they can transfer learning to their workplace environment. The interactive approach enables participants to build confidence in conducting risk and reliability analysis, improving decision-making and maintenance planning in real operational contexts.
